A Little About Me This Holiday Season 🎄

Written by Holly Berard

As a senior in high school, I’m excited to be helping with this blog as a way to gain hands-on experience related to my future career goals. I plan to pursue a career in occupational therapy, and being involved in this blog allows me to learn more about the field while developing skills in research, communication, and education. I will be attending George Fox University next year, where I plan to study psychology, which will further strengthen my interest in understanding how people think, grow, and thrive. This experience is an important step in preparing me for a career dedicated to helping others live meaningful, independent lives.

The holiday season has always been one of my favorite times of year. There’s something about Christmas that makes everything feel brighter—twinkling lights, cold air, cozy nights, and time spent with the people who matter most. As the year comes to a close, it feels like the perfect moment to reflect on who I am, what I love, and what makes this season so special to me.

One of the things I love most, especially during winter, is snowboarding. There’s nothing quite like being up on the mountain with fresh snow under my board and crisp air all around. Snowboarding gives me a sense of freedom and excitement that’s hard to describe—it’s fast, challenging, and incredibly fun. During the holidays, when school slows down and schedules open up, it’s the perfect time to hit the slopes and enjoy winter to the fullest. For me, snowboarding isn’t just a sport; it’s a way to clear my mind and feel completely present.

Another huge part of my life is spending time with friends. Whether it’s grabbing coffee, driving around listening to music, or having holiday movie nights, my friends make everything better. Around Christmas, those moments feel even more meaningful—laughing together, exchanging small gifts, and making memories that last far longer than the season itself. I’m so grateful for the people who support me, cheer me on, and make even the simplest days feel special.

Travel is another passion of mine. I love exploring new places, whether it’s a snowy winter destination or a warm getaway during school breaks. Traveling helps me see the world from new perspectives and step outside my comfort zone. During the holidays, travel feels extra magical—airports filled with excitement, destinations decorated for Christmas, and the feeling that anything is possible as a new year approaches.

During the school year, one of my biggest commitments is being a high school cheerleader. Cheer has taught me discipline, teamwork, and confidence. It’s pushed me to work hard, support others, and believe in myself even when things get challenging. Performing, practicing, and cheering on my team are all things I take pride in, and the holiday season reminds me how thankful I am to be part of something bigger than myself.

As Christmas arrives, I’m feeling grateful—for the experiences I’ve had, the people in my life, and the passions that make me who I am. This season is a reminder to slow down, appreciate the moment, and head into the new year with excitement, motivation, and a whole lot of holiday spirit. 🎅❄️
